1. This first screenshot combines the prospect of gore with enigma, and also emphasises the psychotic nature of the film to show a cut off ear with a headphone still inside of it. This overall gives audiences a visceral reaction from it

2. This second screenshot is actually linked with the initial one and solves the mystery behind the cut off ear, as well as serving as the films first death. The gore of the death is also memorable in this point in time.

3. This shot is iconic in horror movies where we see the shadow of the antagonist with a weapon behind the tent and the female character is oblivious, however the audience is not. This gives a feeling of anxiety and uncomfortableness as there it's a futile situation for the female character.

4. This shot is purely to show gore in the film. Also, like mentioned before, gives a visceral feeling of disgust at the wound. Furthermore, the extent of pain is transmitted through the audience, to make them imagine if it were them.

5. This worms eye shot is significant as it gives an overview of the scene. We can see the girl in the sleeping bag above the fire and the man running in her direction. The mise en scene is also presented with clarity, where we can establish the scene. This would be ideal for our project as a long shot.

6. This is the final shot in the sequence. It shows the woman, now dead, after having been burnt alive in the sleeping bag. This shot continues the theme of gore seen throughout the other shots, using the fire in the foreground, half hiding her. This puts emphasis on the scale of her injuries.

  1. I really like the idea of using shadows to build tension from this analysis George, we could use it in our opening as we don't even need to show the character to start building enigma for the audience
